| Resumen | The Renaissance monumental ensemble of Baeza has been recently inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The town faces a serious crisis. however from the 17th century. of which scems that it pretends to resurge during the Enlightenment. This situation inamtamed it outside of all travelling circuits, far away from what nowadays Baeza supposes becan be of its historical and cultural legacy. During the last third of the 18th century a little but select group of travellers and writers visited and studied this place. leaving written testimony of tlheir particular vision of its urban and artistic heritage. and contributing to the development of a genere, the travel journals. and served as vehicle for the recovery of the Spanish culture. | El esplendor renacentista de la ciudad de Baeza ha sido avalado mediante la reciente declaración del entorno de su catedral como Patrimonio de la Humanidad. Sin embargo, a partir del Seiscientos la población se enfrenta a una grave crisis. de la que parece que quiere resurgir durante el periodo ilustrado. Esta situación la mantuvo fuera de todo circuito viajero. Lejos de lo que hoy en día supone por su legado histórico y cultural. En el último tercio del siglo XVlll contamos con un reducido pero selecto numero de personajes que la visitaron y conocieron de una u otra forma, dejando testimonio escrito de su particular visión del patrimonio urbano y artístico baezano, y contribuyendo así al desarrollo de un genero literario que sirvió de vehiculo para la reconstrucción de la vida española que por entonces se intentaba llevar a cabo. |
